Fatimah Asghar (they/them)
Writer-Director
The author of If They Come for Us and When We Were Sisters, is a poet, filmmaker, educator, and performer. They are the writer and co-creator of Brown Girls, an Emmy-nominated web series that highlights friendships between women of color. Along with Safia Elhillo, they edited Halal If You Hear Me, an anthology that celebrates Muslim writers who are also women, queer, gender-nonconforming, and/or trans. They are the writer and director of the short films Got Game and Retrieval. They are also a Sundance Building Bridges 2024 Fellow and a 1497 Lab participant. They are also a writer and co producer on Ms. Marvel on Disney +, and wrote Episode 5, Time and Again.
Sherif Ibrahim (he/him)
Producer
Writer-director, poet, and organizer, having most recently organized during the encampments for divestment at Columbia University. He organizes the Palestine Film Series in New York, and chairs FOCUS (Filmmakers of Color United in Spirit) in the MFA program. Sherif is a 2024-2025 Building Bridges Fellow at the Sundance Institute Artist Accelerator Program, 2023 Islamic Scholarship Fund Kosar and Javed Mohammed Film Scholarship Recipient, and a graduate of the Stanford University M.A. in African Studies, the St. John’s University M.S. in Special Education and English, and a Directing concentrate in the Columbia University MFA Program.
Akram Shibly (he/him)
Executive Producer
Sundance Building Bridges Fellow whose work in public media has earned him a Webby Award (Brave Spaces), a Telly Award, and an Emmy Award (Compact History). His independent documentaries have enlightened audiences worldwide, premiering at festivals from Jakarta to London. With an MFA in Screenwriting from DePaul University and hands-on experience on major motion pictures, Akram is a maverick storyteller leaping into the world of narrative cinema, with a slate of courageous, boundary-pushing, projects in development. He is the founder of True Intent Productions (est. 2013), with a mission to serve humanity through enlightening entertainment.
Sara States (she/her)
Producer
Korean adoptee based in Providence, RI. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Acting at Brown University. Sara is the producer of the feature-length documentary Thank You for Thinking of Me and is directing/producing a personal documentary feature film on her Korean adoption. She has produced and starred in films with Queens Bird Films and is a frequent collaborator with True Intent Productions, embracing their mission to serve humanity through enlightening entertainment. In 2024, Sara was selected as a participant in the Justice Film Festival/UnRival Network’s Film Lab.
Aneesa Khan (she/her)
Associate Producer + Film Consultant
Aneesa Khan (she/her) is a Pakistani-American filmmaker, producer, and writer. Most recently, she was the associate producer and film consultant on "Mirrors", starring Deepti Gupta and Academy Award nominee Paul Raci. Aneesa has previously held roles at Blumhouse Productions and Women in Entertainment. Her latest short film, "Criteria Kya Hai?", a coming-of-age comedy, is already making waves in the 2024 film festival circuit-with ten official festival selections and counting. Aneesa Khan is in pre-production for "Tandava", an Indian-Western horror feature written and directed by Vinay Umapathy, where she serves as Lead Producer and Director's Assistant. This marks her debut in feature filmmaking, with production slated for October 2025.
